One of my favorite record labels has to be NinjaTune. Not only do they have cool artists such as Bonobo, Kid Koala, Amon Tobin and Yppah on their label they also make their artist's music available for purchase in high quality MP3 DRM free! Why can't all music be like this?

[ Currently Playing : Transmission 94 (Parts 1 & 2) - Bonobo - Days To Come (07:57) ]

This post was 90% done and then I had an unfortunate incident with the back button!

1 - Rogue Wave - Descended Like Vultures

If you are going to judge them by one song check out Publish My Love or 10:1.

2 - Tapes 'n Tapes - The Loon

Listen to Omaha or Insistor

3 - My Morning Jacket - Z

Some would say they are a Radiohead knock-off but I like Radiohead knock-offs and these guys have something that other Radiohead knock-offs don't. Check out them live on All Songs Considered. My favorite song is Wordless Chrous.

4 - Birdmonster - Birdmonster EP

Unfortunate name, unfortunate they only have 3 songs so far but they are great band. Listen to Resurrection Song

5 - Wet Confetti - This is So Illegal (Do it Fast)

Another unfortunate name but thinking up names for bands is hard work! Listen to Body of Maritima

If you like any of these bands and feel like an impulse purchase right before Christmas. Most of them can be found on iTunes.

Bonus Entry  - for people struggling to come up with a gift idea for their girlfriend/wives . If this isn't you, read no further you won't like this artist.

If you are looking to buy your girlfriend a CD for Christmas and she likes artists like Sarah Mclachlan buy her Cat Power. She will like it and you will be complimented on your knowledge of girly music. +1 brownie points!

I was watching the MTV Europe music awards the other day and I was blown away by the Gorillaz performance. Not really because of the song or anything but because they all appeared on stage in 3D. Check out the video.

Catherine and I went to see Robert Plant last night. I dragged her along because I couldn't get anyone else to go. Plant has a good backing band and still has the vocals of the past but I was disappointed because the show seemed really really short.

I won't be able to complain tonight because we are going to see The Mars Volta and System of a Down. So all of today I am listening to them to get prepared and pumped up.

I went to the Pearl Jam concert last night here in Edmonton. I have been waiting for this concert since I was about 14 and Pearl Jam didn't disappoint. The setlist more or less reflected what I would have wanted them to play if I had my choice. The only thing I am getting sick of at rock concerts is when bands have 2 encores. Why not just have 1 and make it a really good one instead of making the fans clap their asses off for 2 more songs?

Setlist:

Release, Go, Save You, Spin The Black Circle, Nothing As it Seems, Daughter/(Dream Baby Dream" by SUICIDE), Even Flow, Betterman, I Am Mine, Grievance, Small Town, Sad, Corduroy, Given To Fly, Wishlist/(Hard Times Are Over by John Lennon), Animal, Do The Evolution,

1st encore: Love Boat Captain, Crazy Mary, Jeremy, Porch
2nd encore: Fucking Up, Yellow Ledbetter

I updated my blogroll on the right hand side today with sites that I read daily. Since a lot of people don't have time to individually go to each one I thought I would explain each one here and if you like them you can go look for yourself. Please let me know in the comments what websites you read every day. Maybe there are some cool ones that I have missed that I would be interested in.

“Caution” a lot of them are stuff only a developer/geek would enjoy.

U2's City of Blinding Lights Video is up over at U2.com. There is 2 versions of it up, one is for the general public and the other is for U2.com subscribers.

In the video that is open to general public,  if you look real close you can see the back of my head when the lights go up and the very beginning of the song.

The other version for U2.com subscribers is a mix of live video and the actual shoot but there isn't much Steve in it.
