The guys who put together the Calgary Code Camp did a spectacular job. The whole thing ran very smoothly and I hope that the Edmonton Code Camp can have as much success.

I was actually really impressed with the Edmonton contingent that showed up. We ended up cleaning up on the swag, check out the t-shirt I won, I pledge to wear it to at least 5 edmug events this year.

There were a couple things I learnt from the code camp:

- Have a breakfast/snack for attendees

- Have presentations with a lot of code examples.

- Offer more than one track to attendees.

- The presentations are always going to run late.

- Make sure there are pens.

A few others to add:

Have tables set up in the rooms if possible and not just chairs. Donald can vouch for their effectiveness (gives people a place to put their laptops, drinks, etc.)

Gather data on which sessions people are planning on going to ahead of time if possible. The reality is that some sessions are going to be more attractive than others, and figuring out which ones not to schedule side-by-side can help attendees see all of what they want. I'm thinking some sort of survey on the site or something once topics are finalized.

State the level of the talk (heh...as you guys found with that last presentation ;) ). I think Bill did a great talk on ASP.NET, but it was definately a review for me...which is fine...I probably would have gone to see Jean-Paul if I would have known though.

*This isn't a must have, but might be a kewl add-on to bolster interest
VIP night beforehand. Just a social night at a pub somewhere that people can meet the presenters and organizers, and do some networking.

Great ideas D'Arcy, I will definetly add them to my list. I also like the idea of having a VIP night the night before. I will keep it in mind and try my best to make it work.

NON CODE CAMP COMMENT:
That T-shirt you won is very special - I'd wear that one, too, if I won it!!!
